That’s a Wrap!

Nurses and Health Care workers on the Sunshine Coast took a well earned day off on Sunday May 4th to celebrate their profession at this year’s Big Wrap for Nurses.
The Aussie World car park was converted into a race track for the day where teams from facilities across the coast competed for the CQU Golden Bed Pan trophy and $1000 prize money donated by RACQ.
The ‘RSL Pushy Pirates’ claimed their treasure in winning the day’s best dressed team. Racing competition was fierce with the Eden Rehabilitation ‘Rehabbers’ giving reigning champions Ramsay Healthcare a serious run for their money in the Semi Finals. At the end of the day Ramsay ruled, with both teams making it through to the finals ensuring Ramsay held the trophy for another year.
The morning focussed on the more serious side of nursing with Loree Rudd addressing a capacity crowd in Aussie World’s town hall, sharing her insights coming from many generations of nurses and focussing on the quality aspect of this year’s theme for International Nurses’ Day.
Guests to the evenings buffet dinner were treated to a very special guest speaker, nursing pioneer 87 year old Marjorie Wilkinson, who after relaying her experiences of outback nursing where she handed everything from tooth extractions and delivering babies to motor mechanics, received a standing ovation for her contribution to the industry and her heartening message to this generation of nurses.
Our vision was to create a day for the community to focus on nursing and provide the forum for collaboration of all facilities on the Sunshine Coast. RNS would like to thank all those that attended the day and hope to see you all again next year!
